S-CUBE Client Portal

S-Cube has launched a customizable client portal to simplify ordering. Why? Because we wanted to put technology in our client’s hands in order to help them become more efficient. Our site enables users to make quick, easy decisions about their fixture programs and then get back to their main job functions.

S-CUBE Web Portal

Our new S-CUBE client portal offers each client the ability to order their predetermined fixture and hardware packages, choose shipping options, and bill to their primary corporate account. Contract pricing applies to all approved items. Our site is customized to each client’s fixture program requirements and is password protected for security.

For more information and to explore an S-CUBE client portal for your store fixture program needs, please contact your sales representative directly or Eric Weinstein at 847-954-5239.

Hottest Reatailers of 2016

The Hottest Retailers of 2016

What do sensibly priced groceries, sleek tech products, cutting-edge fashion, and a fried chicken sandwich all have in common? They’re all part of the “Hottest Retailers of 2016 List” as issued by Globalshop.

Aldi, Apple, Forever 21, H&M, and Chick-fil-A are all named on this first-time list. Other retailers that were tagged include Anthropologie/Urban Outfitters, Charming Charlie, DSW, Five Below, Francesca's, rue 21, Sephora, Sprouts Farmers Markets, TJX/HomeGoods, Trader Joe's (interestingly, owned by the same company as ALDI) and Ulta. These brands were chosen because they are able to dovetail the traditional commitment to brick and mortar stores while embracing retail technology and design. Each of these also continues to develop and grow in new markets and regions.

Hottest Reatailers of 2016

Doug Hope, founder of GlobalShop; Alison Medina, executive editor of design:retail created this list with the help of other retail veterans. Criteria included “store openings, company financials and overall store experience and design equity with today’s shopper”.

A compelling sister list is “Brands To Watch”. The wrinkle in this list is that it seems to appeal to the millennial shopper. The party line thinking is that this group is surgically attached to their mobile devices and are ardent e-shoppers. Au contraire! The stores within the “Brands To Watch” list have studied this group of shoppers and are giving them the retail experience and connectivity that they crave”. Part of that connectivity is a seamless experience that allows the younger shopper to jump from smartphone to laptop to brick and mortar store where real time product availability is a given and mobile coupons a must. The stores that have found those keys are 365 (from Whole Foods Market), Birchbox, bluemercury (acquired by Macy's), Bonobos, Chelsea Collective (from DICK'S Sporting Goods), COS (from H&M), Fresh Thyme, Ivivva (from lululemon), Lidl, Mercantile (from J. Crew), Rent the Runway, RH TEEN (from RH) and Warby Parker.

Books A Million

BOOKS A MILLION

Finally! A café table at a coffee shop that actually meets the needs of its tech-savvy customers. No more hunting for the hidden outlet, no more yoga poses to plug in your device, no more low-battery panic! S-Cube has designed a café table that offers an outlet on top of the table for easier access and for multiple users.

Books A Million

Joe Muggs Cafes, found in many Books-A-Million Stores, sought the help of S-Cube to design and build these tables for their coffee stores within a store. These cafes offer a full line of coffee and espresso drinks and desserts in addition to brewing supplies.

Founded in 1917 as a newsstand in Florence, Alabama, Books-A-Million has grown to the second largest book retailer chain in the U.S. and operates more than 260 stores in 32 states and the District of Columbia. Stores can range from from 4,000 to 30,000 square feet and offers an array of books, magazines, bargain books, collectible supplies, toys, technology and gift departments. Now they can add what their competitors can’t-tables that are utilitarian in multiple, modern ways.

Keeping Kids Warm

Keeping Kids Warm

It really hasn’t been a bad winter here in Chicago. Unless you didn’t have a warm coat or gloves or a hat. It’s never that bad until it’s you or your child without protection from the elements. S-CUBE and parent company, Specialty Store Services extended the holiday spirit and set up a Giving Tree in January where employees donated coats, hats and gloves for Keeping Kids Warm.

Keeping Kids Warm

The contributions were given to the Illinois State Police-Chicago District who then seeks out organizations that are in dire need of winter clothing. Catholic Charities was chosen as the ultimate recipient as their stock of these warm garments was low while demand continued to be high. The warmth experienced by the kids is definitely exceeded by those who gave.

International Day of Happiness

International Day of Happiness

Finally, the world had come to universal consensus. 193 United Nations member states have declared March 20 “International Day of Happiness”. Where we in the United States realized at the inception of creating our country that the underpinnings of a successful society were the pursuit of happiness; the world has come to recognize that happiness is a “’fundamental human goal’ and called for ‘a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes the happiness and well-being of all peoples’”. This Day of Happiness was first celebrated in 2013.

So what is it and what do you “do”? Each year there is a theme celebrating happiness. In 2013 it was “Happy Heroes” celebrating those in our communities who bring happiness to others. In 2014 it was “Reclaim Happiness”. World citizens were asked to ignore the manufactured images of happiness and take back happiness posting “authentic images of what makes them happy to ‘Reclaim Happiness’". 2015 championed a “Happy Planet” asking world leaders to face climate change head on. 2016 is the year of positive connections.

International Day of Happiness

Looking at the webpage http://www.dayofhappiness.net you can download a free book entitled “Great Dream: Ten Keys to Happier Living”. The first few pages explain, “What makes us happy has less to do with our money or possessions and more to do with our attitudes and relationships with other people”. This download can almost be described as a manual for happiness. The table of contents highlights “Giving: Doing Things for Others” to “Resilience: Find Ways to Bounce Back” to “Meaning: Be Part of Something Bigger”. Within each chapter is a short paragraph describing the topic and then a Question, Inspiration and Ideas of how to implement the topic daily. For example, in “Relating: Connect with people” the Question is “What helps you stay close to the people that really matter?” The Inspiration section has a quote from Maya Angelou and one Idea presented is “Make three extra connections today. Stop to chat in the shop, wave at a neighbor, learn the name of someone new”. In this unsettling world, happiness is one idea that seems to be uniting the world.
